Front door
I always wanted to make a door on a mod and this was my chance. As with many parts of this case, I used an extensive amount of wood, manly 18mm pine which is easy to work with, at least as far as ToTecHniKa is concerned, and not too heavy. I made some primary drawings of 3 native indian symbols too, in order to sculpt them later on.
Using my rotary tool kit and special bits made for wood sculpting, I managed to finish
the main part of the process after just four hours. Off course later I had to smooth the sculpting using a different bit which took more time. I also made a kind of opening to be able to grab the door to be able to actually open it.
Adding details is an obsession I've had since I began modding. I always had a motto in life in general really - the details are where it counts at the end. A bit of imagination, skill and knowledge helped too of course. I added the pearls from a necklace I bought for this mod which I engraved inside the door.
I also used a technique I call 'uneven' in order to give my creations a more traditional look rather than industrial by making some things look like they don't line up with the rest of the mod. Sounds strange but I think it works.
Details were also added by painting various designs using a cadmium red paint along with some sienna and soft brown.
In order to attach the wooden part with the door mechanism I used aluminium. I cut it to the desired length and afterwards I bended it in a way both the door and the steel mechanism worked smoothly. A lot of details were added too in a design that's used in old doors to give a more traditional look. Hopefully the pictures here do a good job of describing what I mean.
I wanted to find a way to cover the screws so they wouldn't be visible and I was breaking my mind for days unable to think off something. Suddenly I remembered when we were kids, we used to take the eucalyptus seeds and use them like whistles. This was the idea I was looking for and the next day I went with a friend of mine in a place full of eucalyptus trees and picked some of these seeds. Creation needs inspiration that's for sure.
And here is the door finished after a month of constant work.
